The city of Sherabad, which is the administrative center of the Sherabad district, is located in the Surkhandarya region, on the right bank of the river of the same name, a tributary of the Amu Darya, in the south of Uzbekistan. Sherabad lies 60 kilometers north of the city of Termez.

In 1973 Sherabad received the status of the city. The city has a cotton-cleaning plant, an industrial combine and a plant for the production of ceramic products. Also in Sherabad cotton, brick, milk, flour products are produced. In Sherabad, children's music schools, lyceums, vocational colleges, stadiums, sports grounds are open.
