Golden treasure of remote ages

Unique finding were discovered in the village of Maisky in Tashkent region. 14 gold objects were found during excavations by the locals.

The collection consists of coin with the image of the emperor and the ancient gods, belt plaques shackle, the tip of the belt and sewed patches, as well as a fragment of the object of unknown purpose in the shape of a hook with beads.

Experts believe the items that were retrieved from the burial belong to a noble Byzantine warrior. Gold items were part of the gear and apparel decoration and dated V-VI centuries.

Among the findings there is a gold coin of the Byzantine Empire, presumably VI century. On its obverse depicts the emperor in grand tiara, on the back there is a Roman goddess Victoria.

Researchers dated the findings to the period of Turkic khanate.
